Southern Uplands Partnership
The Southern Uplands Partnership (SUP) is a not for profit organisation with full charitable status. Our mission is to keep people living and working in rural southern Scotland by promoting sustainable use of the region’s abundant natural resources.
We integrate…
SUP brings the together a diverse range of bodies whose common interests are thriving communities and sustainable land use in rural south Scotland. We find common ground and make winning collaborations happen.
We initiate…
We are experts in getting projects off the ground and, crucially, in making sound socio-economic and environmental arguments to secure funding.
We innovate…
We find new ways of working and promote innovative solutions for sustaining local communities and nature.
Keeping the communities, countryside and coast of southern Scotland alive and healthy
Since 1999, SUP has initiated over 60 significant socially and environmentally sustainable projects and secured and invested over £4M of funds. SUP helped secure UNESCO Biosphere status for Galloway and Southern Ayrshire. A first for Scotland, the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere is part of a family of over 600 biospheres worldwide. The status celebrates the regions commitment to encouraging and promoting opportunities that help foster a harmonious relationship between man and nature.
