SWSEIC currently employs two members of staff.
Mark was appointed as the Centre Manager of DGERC when it was established in 2004 and has overseen the operation of the Centre ever since. He graduated from the University of Hertfordshire and worked for 11 years as the National Organiser of the Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) Core Counts at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge. As well as an interest in birds, Mark is a keen butterfly and dragonfly enthusiast and through the work of the Centre has a broad knowledge of wildlife in Dumfries & Galloway.
Helen joined SWSEIC as the Where’s Wildlife in Ayrshire Project Officer in January 2018. She graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1997 and has over 20 years experience in the environmental field. Over the last 13 years Helen has worked in ecological consultancy. She specialises in bat and small mammal surveying but also has a broad knowledge of Scottish wildlife. Prior to 2005 she specialised in wastes management/ recycling, waste policy development and environmental data reporting. She also has extensive experience of teaching children about science and wildlife/ nature conservation.
