Bog Wildlife Identification Workshop

Come join the East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative and Where’s Wildilfe in Ayrshire for an afternoon of investigating the wildlife of Low Moss.
Samples will be collected from the bog in the morning by the project officers, and we need your help to identify the plants and animals that make Low Moss their home. Restoration work has been taking place on this site since January of this year, with ditch blocking undertaken with the aim of increasing water retention on the bog and restoring it to its natural state. We want to find out if are efforts are paying off by finding out what species are making use of this improved habitat.
With the help of a local expert, we will use both microscopes and ID keys to help us uncover the diversity of life found in a bog habitat.
No previous experience is necessary – just a keen interest in nature and an enjoyment of seeing and identifying wildlife.
