North Ayrshire Council
Home to 136,000 people, North Ayrshire covers an area of 885 square kilometres and includes the islands of Arran, Great Cumbrae and Little Cumbrae. North Ayrshire has a range of Sites of Special scientific Interest (SSSI), such as Bankhead Moss, Portencross Woods and Western Gailes.
Both the Scottish Wildlife Trust and the North Ayrshire District rangers collect wildlife records across the region, as well as maintaining wildlife reserves, and encouraging volunteering and community engagement.
