SW Scotland webcams

Given the current lockdown on movements during the Covid-19 outbreak, it seemed like a good idea to seek out what aspects of the region’s wildlife was on show via the internet. In particular I was looking for live webcam feeds focusing on wildlife.

There are many webcams dotted around the UK showing various wildlife. The Wildlife Trusts have a page on their website with links to all the various wildlife trust webcams – some excellent feeds, mainly birds but also a few other species including Badgers and a live bat roost. A quick search on the net will pick up other offerings , mainly birds, from around the UK and beyond. At the time of writing, there were, however, very few offerings of wildlife in D&G and Ayrshire. There are some cameras on rivers but relatively little with a wildlife focus.

Links to the wildlife webcams that we’ve found in SW Scotland are listed below. If anyone knows of others in the region please send me a link and we’ll edit this page and add it in.

WWT Caerlaverock – good for Badgers in the evening and  ducks and occasional other wildlife during the day.
Nestbox cam – live daytime footage of a nestbox in Dundrennan.
Kirroughtree – chance of a Red Squirrel
