Volunteer position at SWSEIC

SWSEIC have an opportunity for a volunteer to assist with the creation and updating of content for the SWSEIC website. If you are interested in helping please email the SWSEIC Manager to register an interest by Friday 12th May.

SWSEIC website assistant

Location

SWSEIC office in Kirkgunzeon.

How many hours per day/per week are you needed?

c.6hrs, one day per week, but flexible.

On which days are you needed?

Any week day

On what date do we want you to start?

Straight away

Minimum commitment we require from you (e.g. 1 day per week for 3 months), if any.

1 day per week for c.6 months – possibility of ongoing work thereafter.

Objective(s) of your volunteer role

To help with creation and management of content on the new SWSEIC website.

Tasks

Editing and formatting text and images on the SWSEIC website. Migrating content from old DGERC website to new website.

Description of the personal attributes/skills/qualifications required

Experience in the use of editing websites or blogs, ideally using WordPress, is essential. Should also be familiar with editing photos on a computer. Attention to detail important. An interest in wildlife would be helpful but not essential. Please note that this role will be desk based, and would thus suit someone seeking indoor rather than outdoor volunteer work.

Support/training?

Initial training in software will be carried out by the SWSEIC manager. Support will be provided throughout.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide travel expenses for this position.

Other details

The office is a short walk from the 501 Dumfries/Dalbeattie bus route and buses run approximately hourly throughout the day. The office is accessed via a small number of steps and is therefore not wheelchair accessible.

 

* In the event that more than one person comes forward, we will ‘interview’ candidates informally and offer the position to the most suitable candidate. Sadly we are unable to accommodate more than one person at present.
